The Eecha tree, known in Tamil as “ஈச்ச மரம்” and commonly called the Palmyra palm, is a tall, robust tropical tree native to South and Southeast Asia. It is especially common in Tamil Nadu and other parts of southern India, where it plays a significant role in rural life, ecology, and culture.

Height: Can grow up to 30 meters (nearly 100 feet) tall.

Trunk: Thick, dark brown to black in color, with a rough, ringed texture due to the scars of fallen leaves.

Leaves: Large, fan-shaped leaves that can grow up to 3 meters wide, often used for weaving mats, baskets, and roofing.

Crown: A cluster of broad leaves grows at the top, creating a canopy-like crown.
